SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE
An Ounce of Prevention... A Marathon Self-Contained (SC) compactor is a reliable and productive piece of equipment that offers years of trouble-free use, provided that routine preventative maintenance is practiced. The cylinders for the compactor are located in the area directly behind the ram. Contamination caused by the buildup of material and contact with the cylinder rods can cause severe hydraulic damage and possibly, loss of the cylinder. A drag plate and a wiper strip are in place to reduce accumulation of material behind the ram, but material can still build up over time. Ideally, this area should be cleared and cleaned once a month. To access the area behind the ram in standard units, simply remove the bolted panel located on the end of the unit, opposite the large bustle door. In units equipped with the new Qwik Clean® Door, access is even quicker and easier than before. To open the door, operate the handle on the ratchet as you would on the larger bustle door. Once access is gained, the area can then be cleared of debris and rinsed to remove dust and grime. Routine maintenance saves you time and money long-term, so remember to keep your compactor clean. NOTES FROM NEXGENLubrication Adds Life... A NEXGEN TIEger™ series auto-tie baler has many parts that require lubrication. The tension system has ten grease points that provide access to the pivot points of this system. Ideally, and depending on the unit’s application, these points should be filled with high-quality grease via a grease gun every 500 hours of use. The gear tieing system, which includes the twister, wire guides, and inserters, should also be lubricated regularly. These components should be lubricated using a “dry” lubricant. Spray the chain for the inserters, the twister heads (five total,) and the pivot points for the wire guide blocks with silicone or lithium lubricant a minimum of every eight hours of use. Routinely followed, this quick and simple maintenance procedure will help your baler last longer, tie better and produce higher quality bales. GOT QUESTIONS? ON THE WEB FRONT![]() |

Marathon Equipment is aware of global sustainability and environmental impact with regards to our products. With each new product we have made measurable strides in reducing energy and fuel consumption while continuing to offer superior compaction for maximum payloads. Marathon is excited to announce the development of our GreenBuilt™ RJ-250SC self-contained compactor. This new environmentally friendly compactor is our solution for reducing energy consumption and noise pollution. Features include a 5HP Energy-efficient variable displacement power unit. Energy costs decrease while full compaction force remains. The submerged power unit reduces fluid leakage potential and dramatically decreases noise during operation. It also uses environmentally friendly biodegradable oil and cushioned ground rollers to help reduce noise during pickups/dropoffs and lessen stress on the pad, thereby extending its lifespan.
NEXGEN is eager to announce that our TIEger™ tieing system, featured on TIEger™ auto-tie balers, now offers even more features for easier maintenance and higher efficiency... making it the most reliable tier on the market! Features include:
