Metro Group introduces solar compactor to "Green Day" audience at The EX
Visitors to the Midway of The EX were introduced to the waste–handling industry’s first solar–powered environmentally friendly compactor. Manufactured by US–based Marathon Equipment and distributed in Eastern Canada by Metro Group, the GreenBuilt™ RJ–250SC Ultra self–contained compactor utilizes cushioned ground rollers and biodegradable oil, lessening the compactor’s physical and auditory impact on its environment. The GreenBuilt™ compactor’s solar–powered power unit’s performance is comparable to 10hp units with 100% of the power supplied by solar panels (a 100 VAC backup charger is used to charge batteries when needed.) It does not require three–phase power and is equipped with two DC motors powered by batteries. Also available under the GreenBuilt™ banner is the VIP vertical compactor.
